Cavia History Project

Calling all past and current Cavia’s!

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the opening of Filmhuis Cavia we are investigating the history of the cinema and the people behind it. If you volunteered at Cavia between 1983 and now – or were involved with the cinema before it officially became Cavia – we would love to hear from you!

What exactly is the project?

We are conducting interviews with as many former and present Cavia’s as possible to create a comprehensive oral and written history of the cinema over the past 40 years.

We are specifically looking for historical information and stories about the building of Cavia and its founding stories from the people who were there and helped make the cinema what it is today. No matter what decade you were a part of the cinema or what position you held, we want to hear your stories.

We are also interested in the stories of people who collaborated with Cavia, as distributors, filmmakers, artists, activists, audience members, party participants etc. We want to listen to  your stories, and would be more than thrilled if you have programmes, posters, photos, videos and more materials to share, which can help us piece together the history of the cinema.

All the information gathered will be used to create an oral history of Filmhuis Cavia as a community self-organized space. We will publish a book as to all we have achieved.

To get involved please email your name, contact details and the year(s) you were involved with Cavia to: caviahistoryproject@gmail.com
