10 years of CINEMA COLOMBIANO!
For a decade our festival has brought Colombian culture to The Netherlands. Celebrating what we miss, not only because it shapes who we are, but also because we honor and acknowledge Colombian culture as an act of resistance.
Since 2015 we’ve shared alternative perspectives on Colombia, woven through time, flavors, communities, and artistic expressions. Our beloved audience and us have enjoyed music, film, performance, video installations, gastronomy, and visual arts: first in WORM Rotterdam, and since 2021 also in Filmhuis Cavia in Amsterdam. For our Cinema Colombiano 10th anniversary, we decided to add a third location: on the 18th of September, we will open the festival in Hotel Maria Kapel in Hoorn. And as a present to you, our visitors: the opening event is gratis, and aside from films and music, there will be free empanadas as well! See the full program at https://cinecol.nl/
On September 20th at Filmhuis Cavia in Amsterdam we will present two film blocks, both with the presence of filmmakers for a Q&A. After the films enjoy a live accordion performance by Gabriel Sabor Vallenato, and our classic DJ set by Mitze Apocalipse and Chucho Vinilo. We will again transform Cavia’s hall into a dance floor!
About this edition: Cinema Colombiano is a party, but it has also been a space for collective reflection. That’s why we want to take this 10th anniversary as a chance to imagine and plant seeds for the future. We will present futuristic films, as well as communities and artists who we believe will be the protagonists of the times to come. Because without a doubt, Colombia has so much to contribute to the future we long for: one without war, decolonial, and free. Ashé!

Pedagogía de la Corridez

This documentary delves into an educational methodology born in Cauca, in the municipality of Patía, with teacher Lola (María Dolores Grueso). Through the use of corridez, a synonym for madness, this method invites us to break the rules of the school institution and learn through our bodies, our surroundings, and our community.
