SEX-POSITIVE
Kissable Screens: Everything You Need To Know About Mom

EN Kissable Screens is a monthly sex-positive program of Cavia, exploring how sexes and bodies are presented in cinema and how we engage its experience critically. This month, we recall moms who unwillingly are deified as saint Maria or fetishised as MILF, we listen to who they are before and after becoming mother and how society constructs their roles and sexualities. We screen three shorts that challenge stereotypes and sentimental views of motherhood by questioning and disrupting assumptions without being judgmental and invite the audience to stare at and demystify the mother figure.

Voci nel Tempo / Voices Through Time
Franco Piavoli | 1996 | Italië | 85’ | no dialogue

EN The passing of the seasons in the Mantua town of Castellaro follows the seasons of the life of its inhabitants. Thus, alongside the games of childhood, the first disappointments, the dances in the farmyard, the thwarted loves, the happy weddings and the nostalgia for the youth that fades away, life is always the same with television as its only companion. The arrival of autumn with its unexpected rains changes the life of the people of the town while the river flows inexorably. The first snow of winter whitens the roofs of the houses and invites children to play on the frozen lake.
Voci nel Tempo, directed by Franco Piavoli, is a poetic vision of life in a picturesque Italian village in the 90s. It has received critical acclaim for its lyrical depiction of life and nature, with viewers describing it as a profound, almost spiritual experience that evokes intense melancholy and a deep appreciation for fleeting moments. The voices through time are the voices of people of the village echoing across the fields, the exchanges between someone on a balcony and someone on the street, the buzz of old men seeking the coolness of the shade. The sound of scooters with boys circling around a group of girls, like a modern version of an ancient ritual. These moments may sound small, but Voci nel tempo shows that these are the ones worth living for.
About fc dollyshot
fc dollyshot is a film club in Antwerp dedicated to screening films that are worth rediscovering. Film club dollyshot, just like the iconic dolly shot in cinema, adds depth and perspective to the film experience. They do this with a love for cinema, at various locations and with a context that enriches each screening. In the past, they have organized a Taiwanese New Wave Film Festival and a Global Classics Film Festival, among other special screenings and events. Now, on September 18th, fc dollyshot is coming to Amsterdam to collaborate with Filmhuis Cavia for one night. They will be screening and introducing Voci nel tempo, a film of their choice.
A week after the screening at Filmhuis Cavia, on the 25th of September, fc dollyshot will welcome Filmhuis Cavia at Filmhuis Klappei in Antwerp for a different screening as well. Klappei is the smallest, cosiest cinema of Antwerp and runs on a non-profit base, just like Cavia. This collaboration supports and brings together independent film theatres and aspiring programmers from Amsterdam and Antwerp to create two wonderful evenings, celebrating film that hasn’t been seen enough but deserves to be seen (again).
