MU x CAVIA Film Festival:
What's (y)our story?
in Seoul, South Korea

With the support of Arts Council Korea and Dutch Culture Center for International Cooperation, What's (y)our story? will be held in collaboration with Filmhuis Cavia and cultural space Mudaeruk in Seoul, South Korea. In line with "Inclusivity", the theme of the two countries' cultural and artistic exchange project, Cavia will screen films dealing with intersectional queer and migratory narratives, alongside performances of local bands as well as talks with the audience.
What's y(our) story? starts by asking what your/our story is in you/us, and whether we can really exist autonomously. What separates you from us? Listening to the countless voices we have excluded, but intertwined with us, your story that I have not heard before will be returned to our story. Through this experience, I hope it will be a place to create a sense of empathy and symbiosis beyond fragmentation or appropriation of culture. We aim to practice promiscuous care beyond the individual, family oriented kinship, and anthropocentric perspective.
This program is organised by Hyeisoo Kim (김혜수/혜수/hyeisoo) who is an artist from South Korea living in the Netherlands. She currently follows a Research Master in Cultural Analysis at the University of Amsterdam, focusing intersectional feminist practice on race and gender. During the last two years, she has organized a monthly sex-positive program at Filmhuis Cavia, Kissable Screens, as an opportunity to engage in collective care and learn from our own story.
